Although the concept of a Gender and Diversity Perspective Budget (PPGyD) may seem recent in Argentina, the reality is that it has a long history of study and implementation. The sense of novelty comes from the fact that only in the past year has the national government managed to draft and present its budget with this perspective. However, it is important to note that this did not happen overnight or solely due to political will. This process was made possible by several preexisting conditions: the rise of feminist movements, the international gender agenda, the technical expertise of the responsible staff, the transparency of national public funds, and the culture of budget monitoring and oversight at this level of government by civil society organizations, academia, the media, and political opposition.
