The Critical Economy Research Center (CIEC) is a non-governmental, independent, non-partisan and non-profit Civil Association of Argentina, located in the province of Mendoza.
Why Critical Economy?
Because we understand economics as a tool for transforming society toward greater justice. That’s why we adopt a broad approach, integrating various disciplines and social actors to develop proposals that promote gender equity and sustainable development.
Mission
Generate and disseminate critical and innovative knowledge in economics, through interdisciplinary and collaborative research that promotes social well-being, sustainable development, gender equality and tax justice.

Vision
We aim to influence public policies and foster constructive dialogue between academics, decision makers and civil society to contribute to the construction of a more fair and equitable economy at the local, regional and international level.

What do we do?
We provide analysis and advice on economic, political and social issues to governments, civil society organizations, unions, international organizations and companies under the following formats:

We produce sectoral reports and scientific articles promoting innovative solutions to multiple socioeconomic problems.
We provide technical and personalized advice on economic, financial and organizational management.
We offer courses and workshops on various socioeconomic topics.
We participate in public debate through academic conferences, interviews with mass media and interventions on social networks.
History
We emerged in 2010 as a group of students who noticed that economics curricula did not fully explain our reality or allow us to deeply understand social problems.
We began to study and disseminate different economic perspectives to contribute to the democratization and plurality of debates.
