In the collaboration that we have been carrying out for several years between the United Education Workers Union and the Center for Research in Critical Economics, we have tried to clarify different aspects of how the provincial education system operates. On this occasion, we have addressed the structure of positions in the public education system of the province. For this, we will rely on the information provided by the General Directorate of Schools (DGE) under Law No. 9070 on access to public information. It is important to note that this is a first approximation limited by the available information. As the DGE responds to our new requests and clarifications, we will be able to deepen our analysis of various aspects of the data presented in this report, as well as other relevant variables.
In this report, we will first analyze the evolution of the number of positions from 2014 to 2019, the last available year. Second, we will examine how the composition of positions and their departmental distribution have changed. Third, we will study how the reclassification of the “Zone Item” impacted each type of position.
