On February 15 of this year, the Government of Mendoza presented its 2024-2030 Health Plan. Following a thorough diagnostic assessment, it proposes nine general objectives and thirteen strategic lines, among which we can highlight: establishing health as a State policy, incorporating more technology, improving infrastructure, making the system more efficient, increasing quality, and changing the current employment system for healthcare professionals.
Throughout the Health Plan, we find numerous unquestionable points, starting with the recognition that health is a right that must be accessible to the entire population of Mendoza and that the provincial government is primarily responsible for guaranteeing it (just as it is with education and public safety). However, we believe it is important to emphasize that what ultimately determines whether healthcare is a priority for any government is the amount of funding allocated to it.
For this reason, this document will analyze healthcare investment in recent years, the projections for 2024 based on the available data, and how Mendoza compares to other provinces.
In the final section, we will focus on the salary evolution of provincial healthcare workers. Given that healthcare is a labor-intensive sector, it is essential to ensure that its workers receive fair compensation to maintain the efficiency and quality of the system.
